Rosette Nebula Tapestry

A giant flower blooming in deep space, captured through my own telescope. The Rosette Nebula is an enormous circle of glowing hydrogen roughly 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros — over a hundred light-years across, which makes it one of the largest single objects you can frame on a wall. Its symmetry and rich red-and-pink petals read almost like a textile pattern, which is exactly why it belongs on a tapestry.
At the center sits a cluster of young, hot stars called NGC 2244. The fierce stellar winds and radiation pouring off those newborn suns have hollowed out the middle of the cloud, carving the open rose shape you see. Those same stars are what make the surrounding gas glow — you're looking at a star factory lighting up its own nursery from the inside.
